institution of orram
www.orram.wordpress.com

A mobile and interchangeable project, exploring the experience of being a tourist or visitor in a different town or city.
Questioning how we readily accept information that is provided for us about places, people, history and legends.

Taking its name from an anagram of the words tourist information; the project takes pages of existing touristic,
historical and geographical information and shreds them!

Recipients of institution of orram capsules receive a small amount of the shredded text specific to their
location/destination.

The capsules also contain small worksheets which can be utilized by participants to rearrange information
as accurately or as playfully as they wish.

Countless new stories and trivia can be created and shared.

“3.8 million day visitors to Bath have helped to make the surrounding area hot, providing employment for water engineers.”

"Messages to the town's Roman King were probably housed in the 3rd Calidarium, a barrel-vaulted building with a spa."

"The sacred bath of Sulis was stolen by the Celts of Avon in 1974."
