My current practice is centred around the concern to instigate the direct involvement of audience members in creative and contemplative processes.
Viewers become participants through taking up active and creative roles; consequently inheriting a sense of shared 'responsibility' for the shaping of various elements within the resultant artwork.
An ever-growing interest in social and relational aesthetics has brought about the requirement, in many of my works, for participants to interact or co-operate as directly with each other as they must with the artwork itself.
In recent collaborations I have worked more with action and communication to explore various social and relational ideologies.
I believe that, through certain circumstances, it is possible for complete strangers to work together in the gallery environment; forming brief, yet rewarding, explorative and collaborative partnerships. |
